depends how serious you are about it, are you looking for pro quality stuff, or just something to mess around on, your standard mini dv camcorder with a side flip screen is fine for just messing around, but if your really serious about it your gonna be in a couple g's.

the cameras not even ur biggest problem. If u r really serious about making ski movies computer software alone is gonna cost u some green. I dl'ed studio v 9 from limewire a lil while ago. it retails for about 150$. its pretty nice. also firewire cables (or usb). all in all there is a lot of luggage that comes with making a ski film other then a camera

i have a couple friends that do nothing accept make movies all the time, funnie ones, snowboarding ones, skateboarding ext... and they use a stills camera with a tripod and they get video that looks pro, its all about ur video editing program and ur abilitys with a camera. adobe premier is the best video editing shiot u can get, and at 900 bux canadian its hardly worth it, but on the plus its easy to download and not hard to rip it. good luck!

windows movie maker!? that program is aweful, no video overlay, frames are limited to .3 sec, and the program itself constantly freezes. I dl'ed premiere last night from a p2p file sharing app and its pretty sweet

premiere isnt the way to go.. its such an unstable program.. if you have the money switch over to a mac and run the final cut pro studio....also if you have the cash for a gl2.. dont get a gl2.. get a sony vx2100... i dont feel like explaining all the reasons. but just google it

i would say definatly use final cut pro.  and i pretty good camera for a pretty good price would be the DCR-SR100 30GB Handycam® CamcorderspacerDCR-SR100.  i would say definatly get a mac cuz for video editing i wouldnt want any other computer. i use the mac book so i can travel, shoot footy, and download it straight to my computer. and even imovie hd would be  a fine video editing program to start off with and get ur grounds in editing footy.

i think being that the sony dcr-sr100 has some pretty new tech in it such as the built in hard drive, i think it still needs some work before it will be good. i would say stick with a 3ccd cam. they are reliable and way more quality. i would recomend the panasonic PV-GS500 3ccd. thats wat im using now and its great.
