I continually hear liberals blame the 'heartland' and/or the 'red states' for their 2000 and 2004 election losses. My question: Where EXACTLY is the 'heartland'? A response from the all-knowing-and-wise... Kootxxxxx and Motherxxxxxx would be appreciated. I've attached a link that may help you with your response. If you look at more than just the map that makes the USA appear devoutly Republican, its quite easy to distinguish a 'heartland'. All of the maps are available here: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mejn/election/ The best gauge of the so called conservative heartland would be the 'purple america' map: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mejn/election/countymaplinearlarge.png

So the heartland extends into the 'north-west' as well. Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Dakotas? I thought it was predominantly in the south? i.e. Uneducated 'rednecks' I think you called them/it.
