So, I'm a chick who's just getting into skiing after 5 years of boarding.
I talked to the ski tech at my store, and decided that because of my discount and because they'll last me ages...to go with the Rossi Scratch's.
I think I really want to get into park/freestyle stuff. I skiied a handful of times last year, and whereas I'm totally comfortable hitting big kickers (that I'd be scared of on a board haha)....it hurts!!!!

Seriously. I don't know ANYTHING about skiing except that it's super fun, so I don't mean to sound like a dimwit....but why does it hurt? Will it ALWAYS hurt?

By hurt I mean in my shins, when I land off a big jump. Like, it hurts to ski afterwards haha....ESPECIALLY if (hurts to remember) I accidently land on a flat. OUCH!.

Is it possible that I'm landing really oddly? I try to land centered over my skiis obviously, but sometimes end up in a bit of a "chair" position if I'm off balance. I've tried landing differently to see if it reduces the ouch-factor, haha.

Anyway, as for boots, they were just random ones that I borrowed from a friend, not even sure of what kind they were. Is there a certain kind of boot I should go for to make it less hurtful?

Any help or advice would be AWESOME.

The boots might have been too big and your legs were moving around in them.  Then when you land they bang against the front, or if you land back it strains the muscles in the front of your leg.  Also, try to absorb the landing more by bending your knees more.
That guy suggested booster straps which are supposed to keep the boot tight to your leg, I think.  If you are looking at getting boots for yourself, the new Salomon SPK are a park boot that apparently are really soft and super comfortable.  I haven't tried these boots but that's what I hear.

Hey thanx a lot guys...I guess I'll start checking into different boots (I'll be sure to check out both of those) and then make a decision.
