Here's a quick clip of a few of the guys, rough-cut so bear with us and listen closely.

Summer.

Mixed blessings, y'know?

On one hand, the snow is basically gone. Yeah, we can hike it out still and hit a few isolated spots here and there, and riding in shorts and t-shirts is legitimately pretty great. But, at the same time.. it's not real riding. It's short chutes that the snow hasn't melted in, and the rocks and just chilling below the surface waiting to eat you.

Not to mention that I haven't been in Alaska all that much. San Francisco, North Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, Colorado, etc, my life is perpetually mobile and taking me to and from the snow. On the plus side.. surfing and beaches. On the negative side.. summer and no snow.

Oh well.

Life is good. When the worst thing that you are complaining about is having to hike to a chute.. life is good :)

Roadtrip ’06 – Week 1

The first few days of a vacation are always the happiest. Spirits run high, finances are good, and you have the entire vacation ahead of you. Soon enough, it'll be half over, and then almost over, and before you know it you're sitting back in your office with another year to go before you know what a solid road trip feels like.

The first week was unique as we spanned several different climatic zones and saw a whole slew of different sights. Still, the entire time, we were no more than a stones throw away from the pacific. There is a certain aura which the pacific emits. Sometimes it’s a little intimidating, sometimes a little inspiring, but always humbling and relaxing. It is, after all, the largest ocean in the world. We have it to thank for all of our winter storms and shredable coastal waves. Whenever I visit the coast, whether it's in Tofino, BC or Encinitas, CA or anywhere in between, I am reassured, as Jim Morrison said, that "The West Is the Best".

-----

Day 1 - Whistler, BC to Keystone, WA

-Missed the last ferry and had to camp near the Keystone terminal.

Day 2 - Keystone, WA to OR Coast

-Got a 534usd speeding ticket in Port Angeles.... damnit!!
-Checked out the Hoh Rainforest and the beaches of Olympic National Park... always a good time.

Day 3 - OR Coast to Trinidad, CA

-Went swimming upon entry to CA.... cold water!
-It just wouldn't be Humboldt County if the first person you met didn't offer you chronic. Score!
-The weather was BEAUTIFUL! Set up camp, had a fire, cooked some meals, and played a drinking game version of bowling/baseball.
-Went to visit Colin in Arcata and checked out the house music at the Humboldt Brewery.

Day 4 - Trinidad, CA to San Fran, CA

-Reveled in the grandeur of the redwoods. Did several scenic drives, and even a drive thru tree!
-Set up camp at Samuel P. Taylor State Park in the redwoods near SF.

Day 5 -San Fran, CA to San Jose, CA

-Met Lorna's dad and others for breakfast at Pier 21... wow... properly cooked food and clean utensils!
-Did a walking tour of Alcatraz..... so interesting!!!
-Rocked up to the SJ Fairmont with our dirty car and dirty selves... how embarrassing! Good to have a non-public shower!

Day 6 - San Jose, CA to Santa Cruz, CA

-Drove around SC and saw the sights... checked out some beaches.
-Checked out the Mystery Spot... pretty cool place!
-Set up camp at New Brighton State Beach.

Day 7 - Santa Cruz, CA to Ventura, CA

-We saw tons of scenery today. Hwy 1 is always awesome. Even the chili peppers agree with me (listen to "Road Trippin").

-Stopped to see the Elephant Seals.

-Went to a hot spring near Santa Barbara.

Day 8 – Ventura, CA to Los Angeles, CA

-Hit up the famous LA beaches for some sunbathing and bong hits. Malibu, Sunset, Venice.

-Stayed at the Motel 6 in the San Fernando Valley, surrounded by the world’s best porn mansions.

Park & Pipes - Whistler Blackcomb: Super Pipe, Super Huge
By: whistlerblackcomb

Hey All,
We didn't get a chance to post our Festival ending update for y'all, so I just wanted to give the link to our Parks & Pipes Page where you'll find our last update for the year from Blackcomb. It was an epic season on both mountains, and even with Blackcomb resting up for next year Whistler is still open and going strong until June 4th. We've also got a new video on the homepage. Spring shredding is finally here...

Lasf turns of the season
One of the local resorts was open for a last weekend. It was great going out and enjoying the fresh spring snow. Still had the cast on, but that just meant all the more protection. After that at the end of the day I went riding my dirt bike A bit challenging to use a clutch with a cast on, but I managed. I love living in Idaho - being able to do two sports in the same day. Heck, in theory, if I had a boat(driver, etc) and drysuit, I could go riding and wakeboarding all in the same day. It was a beautiful day!!!

No more cast!!
The title says it all Yesterday (4/25) I had a re-x-ray and got the cast off! It felt good for my arm to see fresh air again. It was really starting to feel icky. Didn't smell like I've heard of some people say does when a cast comes off. I'd been using rubbing alcohol and qtips and sticking them far as I could reach down the cast about once a week, then using the air compressor in the garage the rest of the time just to blow air through to feel "dry" and less icky.  My skin is very dry, but not flaky, not smelly, etc. Looks like my methods of recovery worked well. I've been using a "retarded" keyboard at work (one of those awful ergonomic ones) since it was the only thing that seemed to work with a cast on, but now I'm ready to retire that keyboard and hook my regular one up again.
X-ray taken 4/11

Pop up ads, no thanks!
Just renewed my core membership here for another year. It's worth every penny to keep annoying ads away. I use gmail and personally like the way keyword type ads will show up on the side (a couple of which I have actually checked out), but the cumbersome picture ads, or my pet peeve, the noisy ones I cannot stand.  My other pet peeve(along with the majority of all other internet users) is spammers. Spam tastes good when it's packaged in a can, but leaves a sour taste in my mouth when it arrives by email.  The solution for these spammers - they need to be drug out in the street, have their balls attached to the road with an industrial stapler,  and a semi run them over. I have a junk email account with yahoo, currently with over 7000 (yes, seven thousand) messages in the spam box. The most annoying is knowing it is useless garbage taking up bandwidth, server space, etc. One interesting tool I found online is: http://www.dnsstuff.com

I had deleted a couple pages from my inbox(of the junk email) but here's a screen shot:

Just taking it easy this week. Random things that I remember about the past week: Wednesday - day trip to Stettler, Thursday - vinyl shopping on Whyte, coffee @ Timmy's, Friday - Supper with Tuna after about half a year, lol, watched Princess Diaries until about 2am, Saturday - Hit Thirsty Turtle, Baskin Robbin's Gingur Sky, garden bakery, Melody's, Sunday - learned how to bgirl & spin some vinyl, scratching as permittied. Good luck to KreeAzn's audition, he sent me this site that he's stoked about: http://www.redbullbeatriders.com/ As the day progresses, I get more sore, but I had a blast learning how to baby freeze. Psyching myself out for Wonderland Saturday, freaking going until 6am!! SO, just catching up on some reading this week: The DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons, Silent Spring, The Art of War, The Jungle, The Marcos Dynasty & games: Warcraft III & Dynasty Warriors. SO, today, went for bbt @ Dream hut something or other, hit Starbucks & Ross's - la fimilia comes together when we experience technical difficulties at midnight ;)

Snowboard.com News: The Tournament
By: Snowboard.com

header.jpg

April 2nd 2006

Event brief

On April 2nd 2006 Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta will play host to The Tournament. This new twist on the team challenge event format will pit team against team in a battle where strategy, skill, and an ability to ride all types of terrain will be the keys to success. Each team rider will compete in one of the three arenas - the quarterpipe, the jump, or the urban jib.  All sessions will have cash prizing for the top three finishers.  The team with the best overall results will take home $6 000 cash, as well as prizes worthy of THE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

Competition OUTLINE

THE TOURNAMENT offers Canada’s up and coming amateur talent the breakthrough opportunity to compete with top pro riders to vie for cash and bragging rights. This team challenge competition will require a rider from each to compete in one of the three arenas. Riders will compete in 90 min. sessions against members of the opposing teams. Team members will not be competing against each other. Teams will consist of 3 riders. Each rider must compete in only one of the three arenas of competition. A maximum of 35 team entries will be allowed. This will ensure each session will afford riders ample opportunity to showcase their quiver of tricks.

Strategy is the key to this competition as teams choose which member competes in each arena. For a team to be awarded the title of THE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS they must excel in all 3 arenas over the course of the entire day of competition from frozen morning jibbing to slushy afternoon quarterpipes.  Properly choosing when to exploit your teams’ strengths will make the difference between

success and failure.

THE Courses

Riders will be presented with terrain and obstacles designed to challenge and inspire all levels of competitor. THE TOURNAMENT will consist of three arenas - the Quarterpipe, the Urban Jib, and the Jump.

The Quarterpipe will be a 22’ high monster with wallride and jib options.  Riders will be judged on all the features of this unique quarterpipe. Giant airs will be necessary, but you must slay the entire beast to take the top spot.

The Urban Jib will demand versatility and creativity. This unique course will consist of a gauntlet of rails, boxes, wallrides, ledges, bombdrops, and a chimera.

The Jump; The simplest of all the competition arenas. This 50’ straight jump will provide riders the opportunity to display their entire repertoire of tricks.  The jump will have multiple takeoffs.  Booters, floaters, and something out of the ordinary for the true combatant.

STRATEGY

To win The Tournament each team will need to employ a strategy unique to their team that takes advantage of the team challenge format.  Each session will consist of a maximum of 35 competitors, each from different teams.  Points will be awarded to each competitor for their final placing in each session.  Teams will accumulate points for each session. The team with the highest points total from all the sessions will be the overall TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS.  Teams must choose who will compete in each arena.  Alberta in the springtime can be hazardous and icy at 11am, and windy and too soft in the afternoon of the same day. Choosing which team member can ride the best in the varying conditions will be vital to success.  Although, it has been known to snow three feet in 24hrs in April in Calgary.  Teams will need to be prepared to attack the courses and defend against Mother Nature’s offensives. Preparation and strategy will play a part in the outcome of The Tournament.

Finally got some kick ass new skiis this winter. Well actually I got them at the beginning of the season but they are awesome so obviously I have to gush about them. K2 Missdemeanors is what they are and I love taking them into the half pipe. I keep getting random people coming up and telling me they are gonna steal my skiis... ya... kinda creepy people... back off or I'll go kung foo on your ass... um so thats it hahaha

Alright so this weekend started off great. the sun was shining the birds were singing... ya da ya da... and the goggle tan has officially begun. here come the days of being a girl with what looks like afternoon shadow... sweet I am almost the bearded lady :P... then sunday it poured rain. everybody was drenched. If the rain keeps up I am heading to the slopes with water wings. actually that could be interesting I should do it anyway hahaha... Ski Race thursday I wonder if I will crash into another reporter... it wasnt my fault he was in the way... and the fence stopped me anyway ow my shoulder... who would build a fence there...ha I love slalom... k I'm done, until another day folks

Hmmm.... its been a while since I was on this thing. of course it has also been a while since I have seen snow and thought about skiing. Thats right... a whole 2 minutes. Thats right I walked out of my door and there was snow!!! WTF. and now I must vent. although the venting on how ski hills close too bloody early around here is only the beginning of what I want to vent about. But hey... venters cant be choosers... apparently. K so anyway my hill had tons of snow. TONS!!! and the weather was not even spring skiing weather. it was dude-you-could-actually-still-make-more-snow weather. my hill closed a week or so ahead of the others in the area. bullsh*t is what that is. ya so I dont even feel like venting anymore. In actual fact I had an awesome last day of the season. I found a hot pink one piece ski suit and went puddle jumping. People if you havent done it yet the get'er done cause it was way too much fun. You may get a thrill of actually making it across.. and that is fun. but once you do that then go try it again and fall cause that is way more fun I swear hahahaha I cant wait till next season RIP winter 2005/06

The Rebellion Begins: I want a motorcycle... but apparently insurance hates me... so I'll get a tattoo... but if I told you where I would have to kill you,  hahaha jk... I would never choose a tattoo over the motorcycle... I guess I will just have to get both... by the way 55's is where its at...
