Pretty easy stuff. All you gotta do is buzz around our new zone map, find the money line logo, and enter to win.

Amped & ready for our 3rd season of operations, Backcountry Snowcats, is giving you a chance to win a piece of the action. Located on the Hurley Pass north of Pemberton and south of the snowmobiling hub of Bralorne, Backcountry Snowcats has more epic ski & snowboard terrain than we know what to do with, and is always scheming new ways to get you to the goods. Hence the creation of their unique new Private Big Mountain Experience package - guiding small groups of 3-4 riders, with safety training and mountaineering techniques in the mix. Using Snow Cat access, sleds & ski touring to cover more ground, you're looking at an epic weekend of money lines. It’s an experience unlike anything you’ll find at other cat boarding or heli operations, and Backcountry Snowcats is looking forward to hosting the first takers this season.

To launch the new package and wet your appetite for winter, our 'Find The Money Line' Contest could be your ticket to $1000 in Backcountry Snowcats credit this winter. First explore the 15,000 acres of powdery bowls, chutes and glades with the new interactive maps, then Enter to Win.
Not a bad deal eh?

Someone is going to score $1000 towards a trip at Backcountry Snowcats, and you can chose to apply it to the package that suites you best. It’s enough to cover a 2-Day weekend trip, with 2 nights at the Backcountry Snowcats Lodge, snowmobile or Snow Cat rides to and from Pemberton, 2 days cat skiing/riding, and hearty catered meals during your stay. Or bring some friends and put the prize bounty towards a Private Big Mountain Experience or Custom Trip.

Check out our new site, enter the contest, and with any luck you’ll be shredding at Backcountry Snowcats this winter.

What do “The Sex Tiger”, “Creamy Jeans” and “There Will Be Blood” have in common? Not much, but they’re all name ideas for Backcountry Snowcats newest line.

There’s only three weeks left to be a part of Backcountry Snowcats history, and score some free Cat-Snowboarding out of the deal. Think you can come up with a better name?  Bring it on.

Backcountry Snowcats, located on the Hurley Pass north of Pemberton and south of the cult-classic snowmobiling hub of Bralorne, has more epic ski & snowboard terrain than they know what to do with. It has been a mind-blowing season so far, with more storms and good times to come. With the recent nice weather the cat has been pushing roads higher and higher into the alpine, now within spitting distance of… the new line. The line that you get to name.

Enter the contest, come up with a name for one of the new lines, and if your line name is chosen, you win a weekend at Backcountry Snowcats to shred your new line, and many others. First explore www.snowcats.ca to learn about the area, then enter a name that best suites this unnamed line.

Someone is going to score a weekend worth $898 CAD, with 2 nights at the Hurley Mountain Lodge, snowmobile or Snow Cat rides to and from Pemberton, 2 days cat skiing/riding, and hearty catered meals during your stay.

To get your juices flowing, here’s some funny, clever, and random contenders that were received so far, all loosely related to cats, snow, and railroads:
‘Gladeator’,
‘One Track Mind’,
‘Boxcar Gnarly’,
‘The Sex Tiger’,
‘Smoking Bowls’,
‘The Humpyard’,
 ‘Bullet Terrain’,
‘There Will Be Blood’,
‘3:10 to Hurley’,
‘Gravy Train’,
‘Station 4:20’,
‘Derailed’,
‘Tighty Whitey’,
and ‘Creamy Jeans’.

The unnamed line is one of several mouth-watering, feature-filled, powdery, 3000 ft lines in the North Ridge zone. Topping out at 2300m with views of Bralorne 20km away, it drops for a 1000m (3300ft) descent of epic skiing and riding. Weave the glades, slash the gully walls, or just point it down the center. If this line doesn’t get your heart pumping, you’re already dead.

Come up with a clever name that's as unique as the terrain, and if it’s chosen, you win a cat boarding trip. If you don't win, go anyways. You won’t regret it.

Name The Line - Win A Catskiing Weekend

Just 2 years young, Backcountry Snowcats, nestled up off the Hurley Road north of Pemberton and south of the cult-classic snowmobiling zone of Bralorne, has more epic ski terrain than we know what to do with. New cat roads and new lines are prepped every year, this year being no exception. With over 15,000 acres of alpine bowls, chutes, powdery pillows, glades, and burnt-tree badlands to explore in Backcountry Snowcats' tenure, we haven't gotten around to naming everything let alone riding it all.

We want your help, and you want a free cat skiing trip. Sound like a fair trade?

Enter the 'Name That Line' contest and come up with a name for one of the new lines, and if your line name is chosen, you win a weekend at Backcountry Snowcats to shred your new line, and many, many others. First explore www.snowcats.ca to learn about the zone and the company, then come up with a name that best suites this unnamed line. It's that easy.

Enter to Win - www.snowcats.ca

One person is going to score a weekend worth $898 CAD, with 2 nights at the Hurley Mountain Lodge, snowmobile or Snow Cat rides to and from Pemberton, 2 days cat skiing/riding, and hearty catered meals during your stay.

The unnamed line is one of several mouth-watering, feature-filled, powdery, 3000 ft lines in the North Ridge zone. Winner to Surf Out of Whistler Festival in a Brand New Pontiac Wave

Photo of 2007 Pontiac Wave 5-door

If winning a free trip to Whistler for the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is the ultimate heist, then Pontiac is providing the gilt-edge to the experience, offering a Pontiac Wave to the winner of the Ride the Wave contest.

The Pontiac Ride the Wave contest launched this week with radio and web promotions across Canada. Five finalists will enter the Wave on the afternoon of Saturday April 14th and test their mettle in the barrel of the car over 10 days, in order to decide if they are worthy of the ultimate break.

The five contestants will get to Ride The Wave, and the swell of cabin fever, in the ultimate survivor game.

The rules are simple:

Outlast and outwit 4 other strangers living in the car.

Bail, and you’re out.

Win one of the many challenges, and your immunity might garner you a leave pass for the night to attend one of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival’s epic afterdark events.

Can you stick it, all the way to the shore? That’s the ultimate test.

The reward? You go home in a brand new Pontiac Wave.

Aspiring Wave-riders are invited to enter online at www.whistler2007.com/2007/contests < http://www.whistler2007.com/2007/contests >

Park & Pipes - Whistler Blackcomb: So Much SNOW
By: WhistlerBlackcomb

Whistler is having on of the best seasons ever! Endless fresh snow keeps falling (27+ feet and still counting) and we are well over a 3 meter base now.

Yep, that's a rail.

The fresh pow makes for epic riding but is actually slowing down the Parks expansion as we have to continuously dig out the rails, features & rebuild the park almost weekly! The park staff do their best to clear off snow on the rails & hits so our park riders can still hit the features each day. At night, our park groomers are plowing the snow off, rebuilding table tops and rail platforms.

Huge thanx to the day & night Parks team for making the effort each day to offer you the best park riding experience. Fences buried to the top & waist to chest deep drifts around the rails is giving the Parks team a work out almost every day.

Maybe the on line contest www.ifullrwasagirl.com is causing Ullr to be vengeful with the all the snow this season!?

So if you’re up here and in the park, enjoy it, and props to the team for keeping it in shape. If you’re up here and out of the park, well, you know how good it is, we don’t need to remind you. And if you're not here, well, you know what to do...

Whistler Blackcomb is running an on line contest called if ullr was a girl, and still with almost 2 months to go there’s 200+ girls vying for top spot, and more signing up daily. What does it have to do with the park?

Finalists will win a trip to Whistler during the Telus Ski & Snowboard Festival & all kinds of events & activities are planned to finally choose one winner for the Open & Amateur Categories.

To get the stoke on here in Whistler, Anto Orts custom painted a down box with the Ullr contest artwork. The ifullrwasagirl down box is set up in the Highest Level park & is open to guys & girls to hit.

Check out the website
& help choose who you think is the ultimate female Ullr! Meanwhile for the ladies… start hitting the Ullr box, who knows, it may be one of the challenges for the finalists!

Colonies.com Network Wide News: New Pollution
By: Colonies.com

Many young riders today aren’t simply imitating their heroes, they’re often the ones evolving their sport the most – leaving the established pros to catch up or pack up.  These kids are what New Pollution is all about.

Each half-hour episode will feature 3 of the best young athletes from across the core action sports realm: surf, snow, skate, bmx, fmx, and wake.  Since the age range of our riders is 16 and under, they might not always be old enough to drive a car, but they can probably air over one.

Hosted by professional surfer Matt Beacham, New Pollution will bring viewers into the world of these amazing athletes.  Do they go to school like most kids, or are they home-schooled?  How did they get so good at such a young age?  How do they (and their parents) deal with broken bones?  With contests 8 hours away?  With traveling around the country, and sometimes the world, before their voice cracks?  What music do they listen to?  What movies do the like?  What websites do they visit everyday?  Viewers will find out as we give them a slice of life from these young riders’ lives… not to mention action footage that will blow more than a few minds.

New Pollution begins airing December 31st, with a new episode coming each Sunday for 13 weeks.

ARC’TERYX and Whistler Blackcomb will present the inaugural Deep Winter Photo Challenge January 3 through 6, 2007. The contest celebrates the typical January weather systems that pelt the majestic Coast Mountain Range with storms, leaving behind epic powder days and deep tree skiing throughout the winter months.

Deep Winter has invited five photographers to team up with athletes of their choosing, and spend three days inbounds on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Their goal is to capture the essence of the legendary winter storms and bring that to life in a slideshow presentation. The photographers will present their work in front of judges and the public on Saturday, January 6 in Whistler.

Deep Winter will showcase some of the who’s who among Whistler’s ski and snowboard photographers. Contest participants include: Whistler ski photography legend Paul Morrison; Future Snowboarding Magazine photo editor and long-time Whistler snowboard photographer Dano Pendygrasse; Snowboarder Magazine’s senior photographer Oli Gagnon; contributing photographer to Transworld Snowboarding and Snowboard Canada Dice-K Maru; and 2005’s Powder Magazine ‘photo of the year’ winner Bryn Hughes. The five will compete for $3,250 in prize money and the right to boast the title ‘king of storms’. This contest will be a deeply inspiring event for every winter storm lover, as each photographer will no doubt deliver a compelling journey through Whistler’s deep winter.

“This contest was born out of the fact that many ski or snowboard photos depict blue sky days and don’t often pay tribute to the awesome winter weather that can roll through the mountains,” says Mike Douglas, professional skier, long time Whistler local, and the inspiration behind the contest. “The really stormy days here in Whistler make for some epic days on the mountains. This contest is all about celebrating and embracing that weather, and sharing those moments with others who are as passionate about winter storms!”

The slide show, taking place at Millennium Place on Saturday January 6, will be followed by a party at the newly renovated Glacier Shop, located right across the pedestrian stroll. Millennium Place doors open at 7pm with the slide show beginning at 8pm. Tickets for the slide show and after-party are $9.99 and can be purchased at Millennium Place, Ticketmaster or online at Ticketmaster.ca.

“What a great way to celebrate the drama of the coastal storm season,” says John Irvine, Sports Marketing Director at ARC’TERYX. “At ARC’TERYX we are inspired by the majesty of the mountain environment, and each storm provides a fresh and dynamic canvas for these artists/photographers, and the athletes they will work with. To assemble Whistlers’ best photographers to capture this as a subject will be a unique and amazing spectacle.”

“We are very excited to bring these five amazing local photographers together under one roof to see what they create after three days on the mountains,” says Whistler Blackcomb’s public relations & communications manager Christina Moore. “This contest really speaks to our roots as a resort. Whistler has built its reputation in part on our stormy weather, as this is what delivers such incredible ski conditions throughout the winter. We’re thrilled to be celebrating this along with these renowned photographers. It’s going to be a great event.”

The three judges for the event include well-known professional Whistler snowsports photographer Eric Berger, Snowboard Canada’s photo editor and snowboard photographer Colin Adair, and ARC’TERYX’s Creative Director Tom Duguid. Deep Winter is presented in partnership by ARC’TERYX and Whistler Blackcomb, along with media partners Snowboard Canada and Skier Magazines.

Event information, current snow conditions and accommodation deals for the January 6th weekend are all available at whistlerblackcomb.com/deepwinter.
